The music of the Hippie Holler band fits into more than one genre. Depending on the song being played (and maybe even our mood) our music could be classified as Southern Rock, Classic Rock or even Country.

The four members of the band (which had several starts with various other members) started playing together in 2002. Several of the first "concerts" we played were at the Hippie Holler Hangout on Highway 9, south of Malvern, Arkansas. Almost all of these were benefit concerts of one kind or another. One of the first benefits we played was for a friend's daughter, who was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of one. To date, the members of the Hippie Holler Hangout, their friends and family have raised more than $60,000.00 to help those who needed an extra hand.

Our first public concert (other than at the Hangout) was for the Hot Spring County Relay for Life in April 2008. Due to the success of that concert, we were invited to the Garland County Battle of the Bands - held for bands that had volunteered their time for the Relay for Life cause. We were stunned and honored to be awarded first place! There had been some stiff competition in the Battle. Our prize? A chance to play at Riverfest in Little Rock, Arkansas in May 2009.

In July 2008 we dared to take a step forward and recorded 11 original songs at Winterwood Studio in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Entitled "We Rode On," the cd is dedicated to a dear friend who lost her life to a motorcycle accident. The songs, which are all written and composed by band members, are based on both personal and life experiences that people of all ages can relate to.

Marshall Tolleson, Bo Attaway, Rick Hathcock & Floyd Hall

You've heard the saying, "Opposites attract?" That's how some people may see us with interests that vary from riding horses (either four-legged or chrome) to camping at the lake to cross-country vacations. But after everyting is said and done, our music is just one of the many interests that pull us together.

Brian "Bo" Attaway - Vocals & Rhythm Guitar

Floyd Hall - Drums

Rick Hathcock - Lead Guitar

Marshall Tolleson - Bass Guitar

Marshall began playing guitar around the age of 13 when his uncle, Leonard Hathcock, began teaching both him and his cousin, Rick, how to play. Within a few years, he decided that the bass was the way to go - especially if he and Rick were ever going to have a band together. After years of playing during church and in the jazz band at school, he got his first oppurtunity to play with a real band. At the age of 15, he was invited to join the Faulkner Family, a gospel group from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Since then he has played music that has ranged from Gospel to Country to Top 40 Rock in 9 different bands. Marshall credits his major musical influences to his grandpa Gilbert Tolleson (who bought him his first guitar), his uncle Leonard Hathcock, his uncle Mahlon Tolleson, Rocky Mills, Jerry Scheff, Leon "The Mad Hatter" Wilkinson and Wayne Winston (one of the best bass players he says he's ever known). He gives his thanks to his wife, Wendy, their kids, Cody, Chelsi and Carter, his mom, Judy, his dad, Harlon, his brother Craig, his sister-in-law, Shannon and his nephew, Blake - the people that have encouraged and supported him through all of the practices, smoky bars, late nights and VERY early mornings.
